I will not go back to Fireside Bistro. When I told the server that my New York steak was very tough (almost couldn't put the fork through it in some places), she said she'd

I don't think I've ever been to a rstaurant a 1st,2nd or 3rd time, that the service was the same.Saying that, sometimes staff doesn't show up to work, people have off nites etc. and you have to do what you can. I've had alot more pleasurable experiences at the Fireside than bad(1),I definately will be back and so will my friends.Keep up the good work, I would hate to see a restaurant like this get a bad review because of a bad nite, it's very unique and one of a kind.Hopefully the owner will read these reviews and do what he or she can, to limit the bad nites.

I am a bit shocked by the excellent reviews listed above, as we also had a very frustrating experience this past weekend. Having had poor service and only mediocre food at the Fireside Bistro several years ago, I was looking forward to a more positive dining experience given the great reviews listed below. I was hoping that the problems of of the past had been rectified, but unfortunately this was not the case.

The server, although friendly, was quite busy and the upper floor seemed understaffed to deal with the full room of guests. As such, it took us quite a while to order our meals, our drinks were slow to come and our water glasses, once we had them, mostly sat empty. The appetizers did not come until almost an hour and a half after we first arrived for our 7 pm reservation. We didn't receive our main meals until around 930 pm, and even then the appetizer plates had not yet been cleared. We enjoy a leisurely dinner and not being rushed, but this was ridiculous.

Some of the food was quite tasty, such as the bison steak and the prawn salad, but the pork tenderloin medallions were undercooked (a possible health risk!) and the calamari was rubbery. The french onion soup was on the salty side and lacked cheese, plus the bread was quite soggy which suggested to us that it had likely been sitting for some time prior to being served.

The bill came at an appropriate time, but unfortunately we waited over half an hour to pay without seeing our server. We finally went downstairs to find a large group of guests also waiting to pay their bills. Only then did another server (who had not been busy for quite some time) offer to help us out given that our server was clearly overwhelmed. As one customer, also quite frustrated, mentioned to us - getting in was easy, its getting out that was hard!

Overall, I was very disappointed and frustrated with the service and the lack of cooperation between some of the servers, and the mediocre food and nice atmosphere were not enough to overcome these shortcomings. No where was the manager to be seen so that our concerns could be met, and the server was far too busy to be able to help. I was embarrassed to have brought our out-of-town guests to this restaurant.

I am highly unlikely to ever return, especially on a busy weekend night, and would most certainly ask not to sit on the second floor where it appears easier to be neglected. It is a shame that this restaurant continues to experience such problems, because the location and menu have great potential.

The setting was very nice and the menu was interesting but I had a frustrating experience at Fireside. The appetizers were very large and tasty but the bruschetta came out luke-warm and the melted cheese was congealed. The timing of the entrees was far too close to the appetizers. In addition to feeling rushed, there no room on the table for the additional plates. The server's initial solution was to offer to take the entrees back and keep them warm while we finished. When they brought the entrees back out, the meat was tough and the veggies soggy. For the most part our server acted like the whole affair was perfectly acceptable. I was left feeling like turn-over was more of a priority for this restaurant than a mid- to higher-end dining experience.

The Fireside Bistro is awesome, the staff is friendly, funny, a great atmosphere all the way around. The food is something else, our hats off to the chef, he has some outstanding creations. Its about time Regina has such a unique place to dine. We have now become regular patrons. You must try the brunch on Saturdays.

I had their Black and Bleu burger the other day. Black pepper throughout a homemade patty, topped with blue cheese. Was sooooo good. The salad was spinach, toasted almonds, a tiny bit of shredded carrot (other things too that I can't quite remember) covered in a light dressing. Superb. The four of us are going for lunch there this week.

Very nice atmosphere. The food was delicious, especially the roasted vegetables!
